Atlantic Winter Kiss

Welcome to Atlantis.

Borne on arctic winds,

the winter skies are here.

freezing flurries follow your stare.

Shadows of shifting storms surrender

to the boldness of the blue abyss.

The churning of the ocean

answering the breeze,

returning greyness, stillness

to a cyclone in the sea.

The pack ice pitches slightly,

reflecting gaze to the sky,

and, through the waking water,

the conversant sea fish glides.

Beneath the ice floes, ducking

and breaching to the air,

lobtailing the great marine –

a final folding flair.

And then, breaking the rolling mirror,

a myriad shower of droplets

dances on the frozen winds.

An Atlantic winter kiss

blesses the maritime tundra

with life.
