Eleonora’s Falcon
A glance from an ancient
wall
and a chance for a heart to stall.
The Turkish sun that
pierces skin
cuts the racing shadow
on pines, on rocks, on citrus.
Dance, dark crescent,
descend and dash and dare
over the emerald sea,
cross the air
to scare
elusive prey
and instil with awe
another day.
